FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
eVetSites is part of the Veterinary Information Network family
eVetSites started 10 years ago as a partnership between Veterinary Information Network (VIN) and Marv Hovatter. On January 1, 2013, eVetsites became a wholly-owned and operated VIN service. eVetSites is offered as a benefit to VIN members but is available to all veterinarians.
Why do I need a website?
Simply put, you can’t afford not to. Internet use is up 566% since 2000. Searching for information online prior to making a decision about a service or product is one of the most popular internet uses. Your website may be the first chance you have to make a good impression on a potential client. With the right tools, your website can bring in new clients and enhance your relationship with existing clients. It can also save significant time for you and your staff by answering questions and providing valuable information directly from your site.
What if I already have a website?
Just having a website isn’t enough. In fact, having an unprofessional or incomplete website can often do more harm than good. If your website isn't contributing to the growth of your practice, it may be time for a change. We can assist you with transferring the content of your existing website as well as the management of your domain name so you can take immediate control of your website content and appearance. Also, eVetSites members can take advantage of our complimentary makeover service at any time.
What about social media and my website?
Together, social media and your website create a powerful web presence. Social media attracts your audience -- your posts help you connect with the people you want to reach and lead them to your website. Your professional veterinary website provides you with the space to demonstrate what makes your practice stand out, deepen engagement with potential clients, and reach your marketing goals.

Who owns my domain name? Also, can I manage my domain?
If you have registered and manage your own domain name, or want to check the status of any domain, you can review domain registration information here: https://whois.icann.org. There is no reason other than convenience (we renew your domain for you) that would keep you from managing your own domain. All we ask is that you speak to an eVetSites team member about the correct settings required.
Does eVetSites or VIN collect data and personal information about me and my clients for its own marketing and sales benefit?
No. We will never collect or distribute any information from your website for any reason. We guarantee you and your clients' complete privacy. VIN’s pledge to you: Your data is yours. We will never sell your data or use it for marketing. You control the use of your data -- to help you, your practice, and your patients, or to help advance veterinary medical knowledge.
Can I just add the eVetSites Client Education Library to my website?
Yes, you can sign up for the "Library Only" option and add the eVetSites Client Education Library to your existing website. Select from a list of over 2,500 articles, which also make great handouts for your clients. You can find more information about the eVetSites Client Education Library here.
If we have more than one practice, do we need a separate website for each location?
Ideally, YES...BUT you can have all the information on one site. However, you might want to consider that if you do not have a domain (url) and website for each, that this could greatly affect the SEO of the practices that are under the main domain name. We have helped several veterinary practices with both strategies. Please contact eVetSites at 888-332-5316 so we can review the pros and cons of each strategy with you and come up with a plan that works best for your situation.
